The OpenChain Project took center stage at the FOSS4G-Europe Conference with a keynote by Malcolm Bain of ID Law Partners, an OpenChain Partner Organization.
This event brings the European FOSS4G community together in face to face meetings and discussions to foster deeper interaction and to share knowledge. The 2018 edition of the conference was organized by Portugal OSGeo Chapter on behalf of the Europe OSGeo Chapter.
The OpenChain Project is delighted to announce that we will be hosting a legal track at the upcoming COSCUP event in Taipei, Taiwan. This event will start at 9:30 in the COSCUP Conference Room IB503 on the 12th August. As always our goal is to build bridges, share knowledge, and lay the foundation for increased trust in software supply chains.

The OpenChain Project is delighted to announce the release of four anonymous open source compliance case studies from Japan. These case studies mark the conclusion of our sequence of releases that saw information shared by Toyota, Hitachi, Sony and many more.
“The OpenChain Japan Work Group has provided strong leadership in developing and releasing knowledge around open source compliance,” says Shane Coughlan, OpenChain General Manager. “A great deal of this knowledge, available in both English and Japanese, is directly useful to companies considering the OpenChain standard, building open source program offices and simply working to get compliance right. After this fantastic run of case studies we look forward to next steps. Watch this space for more reference material, reports and contributions.”
The OpenChain Project is delighted to announce the release of a second set of tooling slides. These slides were contributed by Software Compliance Academy, one of our strategic partners in Germany, and build on our first release in May. As with all contributions to the OpenChain learning materials (curriculum and onboarding), these slides are published under the CC-0 license, effectively public domain.
“Reference material covering the real-world use of compliance tooling is a common request for companies all over the globe,” says Shane Coughlan, OpenChain General Manager. “Thanks to our partners in Germany we have been able to directly address this area. We look forward to seeing how people adopt these slides and to their feedback regarding future improvements. As always, everyone is welcome to use our materials, and everyone is welcome to be part of making them better.”

The OpenChain Project is delighted to announce three consumer device company case studies. These encompass company approaches, priorities and engagement with OpenChain. They are provided in anonymous format from major international stakeholders in both OpenChain and open source more generally.
“The OpenChain Project is first and foremost a way to build trust between companies,” says Shane Coughlan, OpenChain General Manager. “One of our most frequently requested items to support this process are case studies. Building on our prior releases of automotive case studies along with a raft of releases from Hitachi, Sony, Toyota, Fujitsu and Hitachi Solutions, these case studies offer direct insight into real-world open source compliance programs.”
These anonymous case studies are provided under CC-0 licensing, effectively public domain.
The OpenChain Project will host an open source compliance workshop in Taipei on the 9th of August in collaboration with Moxa Systems. This free workshop is targeted towards a general audience and is open to everyone.

The OpenChain Project is delighted to announce that our Japanese website will launch in July. This website and accompanying free, online conformance questionnaire, will allow Japanese companies of all sizes to quickly get compliance reference material, confirm the status of their internal programs, and encourage their suppliers to follow the key requirements of a quality open source compliance program.
The OpenChain Project is proud to announce the release of an open source compliance case study from Hitachi. This case study joins our growing body of examples and knowledge-sharing from companies around the world.
This material is released under the Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 license. Normally contributions are released under CC-0 around the OpenChain Project.
