The OpenChain Project today welcomes Maggie Wang as the latest participant of our Partner Program.
“Maggie has a long history of supporting Chinese companies from all market sectors engage with open source software,” says Shane Coughlan, OpenChain General Manager. “Working with Maggie provides our first formal step into the Chinese market and is an indication of where we want to go next. OpenChain is run by user companies for the benefit of user companies. There is no market more important than China for open source. We are looking forward to dramatically increasing our engagement over the next 12 months.”

We are developing a compelling commercial partner program to support of our core mission of ensuring that any organization, anywhere can adopt OpenChain easily. The partner program operates adjacent to our free online self-certification, free reference material and free access to our specification. Our goal is to provide user companies the option of obtaining assistance from training, consultancy or tooling entities, from outside law firms and from third-party certification authorities.
The OpenChain Japan Work Group operates seven sub-groups covering topics as diverse as tooling and license information exchange. Next Tuesday, the 11th of June, the Promotion Sub-Group will meet to discuss next steps in building engagement deeper into the Japanese and global supply chain.

This is a record of the OpenChain Project Work Team Call from 06-03-2019. This call saw a deep-dive from Siemens into the collaborative open source tooling for open source compliance project. This project, which is building collaboration between companies in Europe and Japan, has a targeted outcome of reference tooling for the market-at-large.
Miriam Ballhausen, Gary O’Neall and Shane Coughlan hosted a call on June 3rd 2019 to discuss the lessons learned from the preparation of the OpenChain Self-Certification Questionnaire and Web App for the release of the OpenChain Specification 2.0. The OpenChain Project has active bi-weekly calls and a central mailing list that provide the “nuts and bolts” of our community activity. Reminder: Companies Can Upgrade OpenChain Conformance to 2.0
Companies currently OpenChain 1.1 or 1.2 Conformant can easily check and upgrade their conformance status to 2.0 using our free online questionnaire. Upgrading is purely optional for existing conformant organizations. However, it is a smooth transition from OpenChain 1.2 and can be a great way to send a positive message to your suppliers and customers.

The OpenChain Project is delighted to announce that the latest version of our specification for quality open source compliance programs is available in German. This document can be used by any organization to review and improve their internal processes.

This document outlines the key requirements of a quality open source compliance program and can be used by any organization in any market as a “health check” and basis for refinement. The availability of our latest specification in German is another milestone in the maturity of the project.”

Reminder: OpenChain Conformance Badges are just a few questions away
One of the most common questions asked around the OpenChain Project is “how do I get an OpenChain badge for my conformance program and the products that go through it?”
We keep this simple. Any company in any market sector can use our free OpenChain Project self-certification questionnaire. This questionnaire has also proven useful for internal, private “health checks” to assess the current status of open source compliance programs. We are delighted to support both use cases.

OpenChain at the Asian Legal Network, Shanghai
The OpenChain Project took center stage at the Asian Legal Network study dinner in Shanghai on the 17th of May. This event was focused on the Chinese financial sector with representatives from companies such as Union Pay and AliPay.
