Shane Coughlan is an expert in communication, security and business development. His professional accomplishments include spearheading the licensing team that elevated Open Invention Network into the largest patent non-aggression community in history, establishing the leading professional network of Open Source legal experts and aligning stakeholders to launch both the first law journal and the first law book dedicated to Open Source. He currently leads the OpenChain community, is an advisor at the United Nationals Technology Innovation Labs, and serves on various boards.
Shane has extensive knowledge of Open Source governance, internal process development, supply chain management and community building. His experience includes engagement with the enterprise, embedded, mobile and automotive industries.

Matthew Crawford

Matthew Crawford has been working at Arm since 2017 mainly focussing on the Third Party Intellectual Property strategy and process management. His professional accomplishments include working to make Arm OpenChain conformant in 2019; involvement in the Google Summer of Code as a mentor and working with the SPDX community. He joined the OpenChain board in 2022 and has a strong passion for open source hardware and software governance, trust and security. Before 2017, Matthew worked in the pharmaceutical industry for GlaxoSmithKline and amongst other things worked on building trust in the software being used throughout the supply chain.

Marcel Kurzmann

Marcel Kurzmann joined Bosch in 1997. After establishing the test-automation service team at Bosch Engineering and Acquisition Project Management in the automotive section he took over the Quality Management of Bosch Software Innovations in 2008. From 2015 he is responsible for the Open Source Management System of Bosch.IO GmbH (fka Bosch Software Innovations) and provides Bosch-internal Open Source Services with his team. He is member of the Center of Competence Open Source at Bosch and represents Bosch in the OpenChain Governing Board.

Jimmy Ahlberg

Jimmy Ahlberg is an open source and open standards enthusiast and IP lawyer, he is currently working in the Ericsson Open Source Program Office (OSPO) he has a background in the intellectual property field, prior to joining the Ericsson OSPO having previously worked with the Ericsson IPR & Licensing department. One focus area over the past few years have been the interaction between Standard Development Organizations (SDO’s) and Open Source. In particular how these two modes of open innovation could be combined in the framework of various SDO’s. Jimmy holds a Masters of Law from the University of Gothenburg, and is a frequent guest lecturer at University of Gothenburg, University of Stockholm, and Chalmers University of Technology on such topics as Open Source, Innovation Management, Standardization strategy, and FRAND.”

Hilary Richardson

Hilary Richardson is an attorney and open source advisor at Google LLC. Her team performs licensing due diligence for M&A and divestitures, reviews licenses, negotiates open source aspects of commercial agreements, advises strategy for open source foundation engagements, and sets open source policy across the company.

David Marr (Chair)

Dave Marr is Vice President, Legal Counsel at Qualcomm Technologies, where he currently leads the
open source practice and policy team, supporting product development teams, patent licensing, and
standards development. He has been practicing in the open source legal field since 1998, delivering
strategic advice to organizations and running open source legal operations. Dave writes and speaks
regularly on FOSS-related issues, their interaction with standard-setting, technology transfer best
practices, licensing, and other subjects at the intersection of law and high technology.
Prior to Qualcomm Technologies, Dave previously worked at various technology companies including
Sun Microsystems, and while there he was the lead attorney responsible for the release of key
software products under open source licenses including Java, Solaris, and OpenSPARC.
Dave is the Chair of the Governing Board for OpenChain, a Board Member of the Linux Foundation,
and a Board Alternate at Linaro.

Prior to Qualcomm Technologies, Dave worked at Sun Microsystems, at various times supporting Java, OpenSPARC, and Solaris, as well as at Juniper Networks.

Chris Storm

Chris Storm is a legal director at Uber, where he is responsible for IP policy and strategy. Past roles include head of IP & product/commercial counseling for Uber ATG and Uber Elevate (acquired by Aurora Technologies and Joby Aviation), assistant general counsel for IP at Bell Helicopter, and associate at Baker Botts LLP. He has a law degree from the University of Houston and both a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering and a master’s degree in technology commercialization from The University of Texas.
